Many people with diabetes feel guilty and ashamed about their diagnosis.

We know that feeling like this can make it harder to manage your diabetes. So we asked people living with type 2 diabetes, who know how it feels, to create a resource for you.

We wanted to know the 10 key must-know things about diabetes, and they told us:

  • Your diabetes is not your fault
  • It is normal to feel shocked and upset when you find out you have diabetes
  • Don't blame yourself or let others blame you!
  • You can be in charge of your diabetes, it doesn't have to define you
